I find cable ties easy to use and have never had any issues when i had hamsters living in bin cages.

I'll see what works best and B&Q is open till late.

Luna, great tip using jewellery wire to fix mesh. I'll keep that in mind.

I'm still looking for a better quality wheel than the Trixie which is too lightweight for Clive. He loves the Savic Orbital in the playground but it's a strange design. Very low to the ground so would easily get jammed with substrate but it has hooks to hang it up. Not sure how stable that would be.

Not easy finding the right wheel these days. Were you thinking bar mounted or free standing?

I was thinking of the 12in Silent Runner on the stand like Jack has. The wheel has a lot of bounce and i've always wondered if that's the way it should be. Jack is a large hamster but light footed. Clive's the opposite. He's small but very heavy footed. The Trixie is a bit all over the place with him on it. It's not the wheel because i have another four 28cm Trixies on the floor, they came with cages, and he's the same on them. The wide running surface of the Savic Orbital seems to work better for him. Maybe the d'green Silent Runner would suit him.

Thank you. I waited until my partner had gone out for the day because he wanted to do this little job.

He argued that he had the better metal cutting tool but i informed him that i had a metal cutting disc attachment for the Dremel.

The Plaza can only fit on Rory's table so i need to leave Clive in the Alaska for now and swap Rory and Clive over, then wait for a few days to see how Rory feels about it.
If Rory is not happy to live on the table opposite, same cage, same room, then i need to rethink.

Good for you sticking to your guns! You did a great job of it on your own.

I hope Rory does not mind being opposite Clive.

Thanks. I've swapped the Alaskas around to see what happens. Clive doesn't seem to care where he is and Rory is currently running around on the floor so it's too early to say. I had to move Jack along on the low table because i needed access to Rory's bottle. Hmm, that's all three of them in a different place on the two tables now.

Wow it's great. I thought you'd do it quickly What is the grey marbled bit round the edge? I thought the plastic frame was clear or white before?

Just out of interest - how did you finish the cut bars? So the dremel has a cutting tool - does it have a metal sanding tool as well - to finish rough edges?
