Re: Savic Plaza perspex!
I found it by accident when googling something about cages and looking at images. It's not a cheap option! About £86 to replace all the panels (except the lid) with perspex - which is more than the cost of another new cage. But. As you say Luna - a heck of a lot easier than diy or the cost of a tank!
Ria I think maybe they don't do a top panel because the idea is the perspex makes the cage secure (solid sided with no bars to escape through or chew) and there still needs to be ventilation at the top, as with a tank.
But it's the only option I can think of for a 100cm "tank" with a front opening door. And the cost of the Plaza cage plus the perspex panels, is still quite a bit cheaper than an Exo Terra with a front opening door (which isn't as big).

Re: Savic Plaza perspex!
I think the main thing about it is you don't have to work out all the measurements for getting perspex cut to size or diy to make it fit etc. Even the deep bedding perpex options come with fixings! What always put me off using perspex for deeper bedding was having to glue it to the bars and what to use.

Re: Savic Plaza perspex!
That has always been my wish - a 100cm hamster heaven. The Savic Plaza was supposed to be that! That's what Savic said when they had plans to make it. But it's not quite.
The Mamble was very popular at one time when there weren't many 100cm cages and it wasn't that expensive. The downsides are the height. It is very tall. Some people also said it was a bit flimsy/a bit of a pig to put together and the doors were very stiff. It went out of popularity more when the 100cm Barney came along (not so tall, narrow bars, more floor space and similar price). People had quite a few issues setting up the mamble safely, due to the height (although with those perpex bedding barrier things that might be easier now!). In some cases it got very expensive having to buy a lot of extra shelves. Hammocks weren't enough to prevent falls.

Thanks for that info. That would be a no go for Clive who is a climber.

Re: Savic Plaza perspex!
Or what about instead. A Ferplast Criceti 100 - and put a door on the front The whole top already comes off. As it's so hard to find cages bigger than 100cm I had been remembering the Carlos cage (two 98cm cages on top of each other basically - connected). And it was while looking for that I came across the perspex panels for the Plaza. Sadly you can only get the Carlos cage in Germany now - they won't ship to the Uk either.
Actually I quite like the idea of the Criceti 100 with a door put in the front. It's not a 120cm cage - it's actually only 95cm - but it's quite deep at 57cm deep! And 50 high. Not cheap though.

Ah! Another no go. I couldn't quite make out the doors in the photo.

Re: Savic Plaza perspex!
Actually I really like that idea! A criceti 100 with a small door added to the front. I think even I could manage to add a smaller door that fits between two of the thicker bars. If I had a small door! Guess you'd have to buy a cheap second hand cage for the doors. It has a huge top opening already. It's probably the biggest hamster barred cage there is. 95 x 57.
What I could never work out - with taking a door off one cage to fix to another, is how to uncurl the tough metal at the bottom where it hinges on. And then curl it back up again.

Re: Savic Plaza perspex!
I had the Criceti 50 and didn't know they do a bigger one.
I attach stuff to the roof though. Still, need to think about this one as a possibility.

Re: Savic Plaza perspex!
Never seen that Skyline one. That's an interesting one. It is possible to get similar ones like the Karat 100 but very pricey, that's if they are still available.
