Re: Quietest hamster wheel?
I've ticked other because I've had three silent wheels and really not much difference in how silent they all are! My "other" is the Karlie Flamingo wheel. This was the first cork version of the Karlie Wonderland wheel - the first silent wood wheel I believe. It looks identical to the Trixie cork wood wheel but the quality control is much better on the Karlie version (but it also costs a bit more). I had that for our last Syrian.
I've also had the silent runner and the 21cm rodipet cork wheel and both are silent.
I wouldn't call any Wodent wheels silent though! Quiet maybe, but they can develop a squeak and they don't spin nearly as well as the others mentioned.
This is the Karlie Flamingo. It's gone up in price since I last bought mine, so not great value - but silent. Like the Trixie wheel, they're not as long lasting as other silent wheels though - usual thing is they end up tipped forwards on the bearings and the wheel rubs against the stand eventually - and not fixable.
Karlie Flamingo 1030975 Wood Bogie Hamster Wheel Cork Diameter 28.5 cm : Amazon.co.uk: Pet Supplies
Edit - I've also got the Carolina Storm Wheel (not the Express version). It's silent on its stand, but not when attached to bars! But I don't find it big enough and a bit slithery - prefer the cork wheels.

Oh! I've heard of this wheel, but apparantley it begins to rot if the hamster pees on it continously?

Re: Quietest hamster wheel?
Most of the time I'm using the Kaytee Silent Spinners in my hamsters cages and they seem to be fairly quiet. I only usually hear a slight whirring of those however they are the older version that I've had for some time so I wouldn't like to say that they're as silent as this now.
Lily, my largest Chinese has a Silent Runner and whilst I believe that the wheel itself would probably be relatively silent, it's difficult to say because Lily likes to put things in her wheel which can be quite noisy as she runs.

I've never had one rot. The key is to paint the wood and cork surface with water based "plastikote" which makes it wipe clean. I've found they wear very well.

Re: Quietest hamster wheel?
I've checked other because I haven't used any listed but here's the ones I have used that have been really quiet:
P@h 7" wheel (they did have a set colour for each size, it was the blue, but was bought years ago so may have changed).
Trixie 11" plastic wheel. Had 3 of these running at once at one point and all you could hear were little feet.
Speedy hog 16" wide track. Got for my rats and it's great. I've added this one because they did make smaller sizes for hamsters (don't know if they still do)

Re: Quietest hamster wheel?
My trixie 28cm wheel is quiet too - not all of them are! It does rattle slightly when hammered hard, so couldn't call it silent exactly

Re: Quietest hamster wheel?
Noticed the Getzoo wheels on the list. I found them very smelly! Very well made but a strong smell of glue or varnish, which hadn't worn off after two weeks, so I sent it back. They are good wheels, and silent - if you buy them months in advance till the fumes have gone!

Re: Quietest hamster wheel?
Hm. It's interesting how the most opted for option is "other". It shows how the wheels with the most recognition aren't actually the ones people choose to own. Probably due to the heavy cost I'm guessing.

Oh, I see! I was actually considering owning a Getzoo wheel myself due to the great reviews, but I may reconsider. And by the way Serendipity, how is your Rodipet wheel?

Re: Quietest hamster wheel?
It seems fine . It hasn’t been tried out yet as I’ve just plastikoted it and need to fix it to the cage bars (if it will fit - it’s huge!).
The only silent wheels I know of are the Rodipet, getzoo, silent runner and karlie and trixie wood wheels. All silent really. Don’t know anything about the new Niteangel ones (from US) or the tic tac wheels.
But if you mean Rodipet wheel quality - very good and no smells! I already have the 21cm one for our Robo. But they are ridiculously expensive.
