Hopefully they will reply to you soon. I would be afraid of a hamster getting a toe caught too. Their toes are so tiny.

I have seen wodent wheels in USA with very high shipping.

Is it possible to cover the gap with something? I am not sure what though. Maybe the design has changed then.
