Re: Carolina Storm Wheel
Oh sorry. I think I did look at the small one. I really hope you can find a wheel you like.

Re: Carolina Storm Wheel
Thanks. It's not urgent Just getting up to speed with what's available now. The Silent runner is the only one I've used bar mounted for years on the Plaza cage, but I'm sure there's a way round some of the others.

Re: Carolina Storm Wheel
Did you measure the connector to see if it's the correct one?

Re: Carolina Storm Wheel
Which connector? You mean the plastic strip? It's definitely the right one as the other one is much shorter. Unless it's a faulty one but I'll see what Exotic nutrition say about whether the design has changed.

Re: Carolina Storm Wheel
I would measure just to be sure anyway. It's entirely possible that they did give you the wrong connector and you may not have noticed, or even that something went wrong during manufacturing to make the specific connector you got off in terms of dimensions. There are probably countless reasons that may explain why this has happened to you but it definitely shouldn't be happening, something's clearly off!

Re: Carolina Storm Wheel
What are the mousebro wheels like? Are they just a cheap copy of the niteangel design or are they any good?

Re: Carolina Storm Wheel
I hadn't seen those before Ria - they look similar to the Niteangel ones. The reason I like the wood/cork ones is there is no "join". Where the plastic running bit meets the plastic back bit. I am sure if the join is good it's fine, but it's another area where a gap could occur - although assume the Niteangel ones are well made.
The wood ones you just have the wood back and the cork running surfaces and no cracks or joins. But they don't clean up as well long term! At least you can sand them if there are any rough bits.
Rodipet said their 27" wheels are out of stock until the end of May. That's a long time!

Re: Carolina Storm Wheel
I think that only the Silent Runner and Savic Orbital are made from separate pieces that need assembling. The plastic open wheels are made from one piece, i think.
Personally, i don't like wooden wheels because i like to be able to wash a wheel from time to time.

Re: Carolina Storm Wheel
Yes that is the down side. You can actually wash them if plastikoted but they probably won't last as long and they do absorb hamster scent so not great to use for another hamster later. The Silent "Spinner" was notorious for the crack between the back and running front area and trapped feet on occasion (or just breaking at that point). There definitely seems to be a join on the Niteangel wheel where the plastic coloured back meets the acrylic running track but it looks quite a neat join.
When the silent runner came out, it was a big improvement on wodent wheels as - no spindle, silent and spun better. Similar design to put together though.
Wodent wheels also had a joining strip and never a gap inside those. Sorry to bang on about my gap!

If it wasn't for the gap, there wouldn't be a problem.
Just simply return the wheel and ask for a refund or replacement. This infection excuse is pretty ridiculous.
