Re: Shelves for cages 2022
That's really good to know - hard to tell quality from a picture. And excellent it can be any size you want. I know the ebay shelves are hand made basically so usually good quality wood.

Re: Shelves for cages 2022
Hmm so I think I should edit them out from the first posts as not recommended really. It's past the editing time now so I might have to ask one of the moderators to take that link out.

Re: Shelves for cages 2022
I am very impressed with Garden Valley on ebay though - the big shelves. They are getting me one here by Thursday, and not only that she's made it to the right size instead of me having to saw a bit off and find new fixings for one side. I'll report back on quality when it gets here but have confidence in it so far (it is just a shelf though!).

Re: Shelves for cages 2022
I have a petsgang shelf and didn't find it very good quality either. I have others from Chinchilla Shelving Supplies and Garden Valley which are great quality.
If you have a narrow bar cage (6-7mm bar spacing) you do have to keep an eye on the fixing sizes as most Ebay sellers use M8 fixings for larger shelves, which won't fit unless the bars are very bendy. They might be able to use smaller fixings if you ask.

Re: Shelves for cages 2022
Thanks Sushi. Good to know someone else is happy with those two sellers. The fixings should be fine for the plaza and the shelf is to fit in that - but yes they do have chunky fixings - the ranchhouse cages ones were easier to fit in any cage - just screws and washers - but they don't make the bigger shelves any more.

Re: Shelves for cages 2022
Meadowlands have a website as well as the ebay site - they don't have the large shelves on the website though - but do have smaller ones and some really good dangly chew kebab hanging toys. I've bought this one The bottom piece for putting a treat on. The little balls for sticking seed treats in maybe.

Check out hamsterhomeshop.com too. Not shelves but they have platforms and stairs which can all help adding height to cages.
Hopeshealthytreats.com has a platform too

Ah Ok. So hamsterhome.com is not the same site as Hamster Homes that sells the large cages? Really love the hides and bridges/ramps.
Yes I've seen the Hopes Healthy Treats site - Happy Hamsters has them on their excellent list of resources. The trouble with most of the ones that sell via Etsy I found is the time it takes for anything to be delivered, if you need things quickly!

Re: Shelves for cages 2022
Luna that is a great link for the ladders/ramps. How come I didn't see these things on their site before (I did look recently)? Maybe it was not their actual website I was on before, just a cage selling site.
The thread was intended as a resource for anyone looking for shelves for cages which have always been difficult to find but even more so these days. But it's helpful to include ladders and ramps etc too (which are also hard to find).

Re: Shelves for cages 2022
Ok. So the last two items on the first post are NOT recommended! The Petsgang shelves an the small corner shelves from Amazon. Both badly made - the latter with dubious construction (people complaining of them snapping when a pet just sits on them as not a solid piece of wood) and doesn’t state what type of wood.
So anything after the photo of the coloured bendy bridges on page one - please ignore!
Any moderator reading would be grateful if you could edit that first post accordingly - ie delete anything after the photo of the coloured bendy bridges.
