Thats an idea. I have emailed them to ask if they can make front opening doors for me. I am getting the guinea pig enclosure design.

Just had a look at the guinea pig enclosure which is a great size at 120cmx80cm but its only 36cm high. That may restrict you to a dwarf or Robo hamster. I think front doors could work by using the front area for wheels and sand bath on top of shallow substrate then increase the depth towards the back.

I originally asked for it to be 60cm high but I have sent an email to ask for this to be 80cm now. It is a bit tricky for me to know what to request as I have not had a hamster before. Thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate it.

I would have gone for 60cm high personally. I just had a look at the pawhut wooden cages and they are 58cm high.

Do they add shelves and levels as well? I'm just going to check the height of the Living World Eco habitats.

The large living world eco habitat is 75cm heigh.

Sorry, i don't mean to confuse you by giving my opinions on height but i've been going by my own needs being older with a dodgy back.

Oh no, you are being very kind to share your opinions with me. I appreciate it. No shelves or platforms. I have two platforms and may buy more. I want to have 25cm of bedding. That would leave 35cm of space for the hamster. I was concerned they may feel squashed by that. I will see what the company say anyway. I am hoping it will not cost too much more.

If you're comfortable with a 80cm height please don't let me influence you. With a 25cm depth of substrate added height would be better and i can see your reasoning.

As for shelves, personally i prefer to work with an empty cage and then create my own set up. Freestanding platforms work very well, let you move things around and give you more scope to figure out what works for a hamster.

There are some nice set ups in the thread "Let's see your cages" on the Forum under Housing of Living World Eco habitats which would be a similar enclosure to yours.

Thank you. I too prefer not to have shelves. I have two platforms. I will show you the link:
Large Single Level Platform / Table / Ledge for Giant Rabbit / | Etsy UK

My 12 inch wheel is slightly too big for the 30cm platform I ordered so I will order a bigger one at some point.

I will check out those posts. I saw all your lovely cage set ups. They look great.

The eco habitat height includes the wheels . I think the actually height is 55cm internally.

I think 80cm would be too tall as well. 60cm height is fine - if you intend to have 30cm deep bedding for example. 50cm height is usually a good bet as you can have some areas with deeper bedding than others and not all hamsters take to really deep bedding.
