I have accumulated a variety of wheels and place them in the hall hamster playground. Syrian, dwarf and Robo seem to favour an old 28cm Trixie wheel that came with a cage i bought ages ago. The Syrians also like the 30cm Trixie flying saucer.

Yes I think they do choose the enclosed wheels if there‘a one there - presumably the tunnel entrance instinct. Now the wodent wheel is gone, the trixie is the only one like that. The silent runner is similar I guess but the holes are much larger (still an amazing wheel).

Our Syrians also enjoyed the 30cm flying saucer in the playpen - although not to the exclusion of a wheel - Newt used to use both and go back and forwards between them.

I think they will run in anything basically! As long as it’s not too small.
