Good cage for my 7 year old niece?
I have a hamster, and I use salvic plaza, think my sister was going to get it for my niece but it's out of stock...
so really cannot suggest any other cages, does anyone have an idea, preferably a cage you can buy than than making your own.

the second one, does look to small in my opinion, and wheels would need to be replaced even made the house, I just make my own from a shoe box...
would like to hear peoples suggestions, personally think those two aint suitable. .. she does like my hamster cage my niece but it's out of stock at pets at home so need a good alternative

Hi, I agree with you and I wouldn't recommend either of those cages either:
I have this video on UK cages which might help, but some have shot up in price or unavailable again. But lots of ones you could look for 2nd hand. All the links to the bought cages are in the first comment below the video.

think she was planing to get salvic plaza *like mine* since it's a great cage with it being out of stock though I have suggested to her the Savic Hamster Heaven.. it's same price point as salvic plaza, but honestly looks like it's far from being the worst so there's that.

Re: Good cage for my 7 year old niece?
What species of hamster is your niece going to get?
I've used both of those cages for dwarf hamsters and thought they were fine but they wouldn't be big enough for a Syrian.
The Hamster Heaven is fine for a dwarf hamster. Best to remove all the plastic, penthouse and tubes then start a new set up with an empty cage.
Here is a photo of my dwarf's Hamster Heaven set up.
It would be too low for a Syrian though because their wheel and other furnishings are so big .

Re: Good cage for my 7 year old niece?
Facebook marketplace and gumtree are good to look on as well, you might be able to find a secondhand one. It does annoy me how companies don’t just make a simple appropriate size cages. Like just have 80x50 then 100x50 then 120x50 etc. They all seem to go for weird sizes and can be too high or too small tubes. I do wish a company would just sell appropriate hamster cages by now! Lol rant over 😂 only saying because I had the same difficulty and I think now it’s even harder as the best ones have been discontinued now.

Re: Good cage for my 7 year old niece?
My Syrians live in Alaska cages from Zooplus but the Plaza is bigger. Sometimes the Plaza comes up second hand on Gumtree so may be worthwhile a look.
