Is there any way to get the savic plaza in the US?

I noticed that the US almost never sells correctly sized bar cages. Then I found the savic plaza!! And then I noticed it wasnt available here Do you guys know if there is a way I can get it shipped here? Or if there are any alternatives (Under $100) Amazon doesnt have it anymore.

I am not sure. Savic cages are made in Europe so presumably any for sale in the US need to be imported which increases the cost. It’s the same in the Uk when we buy exotic nutrition’s silent runner wheel - costs a lot more than the sale price as it has to be imported.

I know Amazon in the US used to sell the Savic Mickey 2XL and Hamster Heaven. Both the same cage (with different contents) but the first one has narrower bar spacing. They are 80cm by 50cm and good cages although not as large as the 100 x 50 Plaza cage. But they do both have a big front opening door the same so good access for interaction and taming.

They used to be about 125 dollars on Amazon. The Mickey 2XL is actually quite a future proof cage as it has the narrow 7mm bar spacing so suitable for all species of hamster including Roborovski’s. The height is also fairly low so safe for dwarf hamsters but still fits an 11” wheel for a Syrian. It’s an ok size for a Syrian if set up carefully.

Cages are still hard to get hold of generally during Covid. Even in the Uk the Plaza is regularly out of stock. I think manufacturing is reduced due to Covid and staff off sick etc. Plus the same with shipping - transport workers off sick. I’m not sure I sure if that has improved now.

The only stockists of the Plaza in the Uk are Pets at Home (who I am sure won’t ship it abroad) or Amazon Uk (who charge a higher price of about £90). So your best bet would be Amazon Uk - if you sign in and put it in your basket it will show whether they will ship to the US or not (Amazon sign in is the same whichever country you’re in).

Amazon Uk is also the only stockist for the Savic Mickey 2XL so if the Plaza isn’t available you could see if Amazon ships that one as well. On US Amazon it’s called the Lixit Mickey 2XL.

Anything by Savic seems to be called Lixit on US Amazon. My point about the Mickey 2XL being futureproof is that although it costs a lot it can be worth it in the long run and used for different species of hamsters in the future. I’ve used mine for three different hamsters at various times.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I didnt even think of looking on Amazon UK. It does ship to the united states, its just that its *temporarily* out of stock. On the american version of Amazon it just says they wont know if the item will be back. So thank you, I will just keep an eye out for when it comes back

(It is around £90 like you said, but I dont mind. As long as its not around $150 like some of these US cages!)

Not much of a consolation but it works both ways.
I really like the Niteangel wheels, they even come in different colours! BUT the shipping to the UK costs more than the wheel and its out of stock on Amazon.

We can also get the Savic Hamster Heaven through Petsupermarket in the US - it's priced fairly in my opinion, and while it isn't the 100 cm x 50 cm size of the Savic Plaza it is still a cage to keep in mind in general.

My Savic rat cage (Zeno 3 Empire) was ordered through the same website actually. They don't seem to be having too much of a dramatic price change at the moment like some sites might have - maybe around a 10 dollar difference for each cage from what I remember.

Chewy also technically sells the Sky Metro and Hamster Heaven but they cost significantly more so I really wouldn't suggest that option unless you absolutely had to get the cage that way and were comfortable spending a lot more than necessary.

Amazon can also be way more expensive for certain Savic products than Petsupermarket so for products you can get through there instead I would choose Petsupermarket if possible and always compare pricing etc.
