Default Aubiose vs wood shavings

I use wood shavings in play areas like under and around wheels and the sandbaths in my foster cages but use Kaytee with a bit of Carefresh in burrowing and nesting areas.

Someone suggested to use Aubiose instead of wood shavings. I can get this in the equine shop for £10.25 a 20kg bale so its inexpensive.

My concern is that a product produced for poultry could harbour bugs and it would be too bulky for our small freezer.

Does anyone else use it?

Aubiose is just hemp bedding and there are other makes of hemp bedding (Zooplus sell Hugro hemp). I haven't heard of anyone having bug issues with Aubiose though. I think I'd get the Zooplus one though as it seemed very clean and well packaged when I tried it (I was allergic unfortunately - too grassy).

Just checked though and Zooplus don't seem to have it any more.

Amazon sell a bale of aubiose - I actually thought it was horse bedding and it has a picture of a horse.

Yes it is horse bedding but i read somewhere that it is used for poultry as well. The fact that it is produced for an environment where bugs wouldn't be an issue, worried me.
The one i saw in the equine shop is the same as the one on Amazon but at a lower cost.

I've just emailed the Wiltshire saw mill that produces the Pure Pastures wood shavings i buy in an independent petshop to find out if they have been kiln dried.

I use aubiose. The one that is for chickens is marketed under a different name i think.
Hemp bedding can be used for chickens.

I think even if it's kiln dried, it's still better to use something other than softwood shavings, but it took me time to wean myself off them Needs to say kiln dried and dust extracted on the bag and also "pine" (or it could be any kind of mixed softwood and cedar is a no no).
