I have a glass fish tank for my hamster, which has worked out great for me personally! They are a bit on the pricy side but I would imagine you can easily find them on second hand sites and stores

Even if you are not in the UK, some of these will be sold in other countries too, but not all. They may be known under different names. Either way, hopefully it will give you an idea of what to look for, any other questions, just ask.
Is your hamster a Syrian or dwarf hamster. For a dwarf hamster you want a lower cage to avoid injuries from fall risks. For both you need a good sized floor area and not too tall a cage. At least 75 x 45 cm base size for a dwarf hamster and at least 80cm x 50cm base size for a Syrian (ideally a bit bigger). Plus plenty of enrichment- 4 to 6” depth of substrate minimum, a good sized house/nesting box big enough to build a good sized nest in, a shelf or platform - tunnels and hidey places for variety and things to do - a chew stick for teeth. Some kind of tile or stone to help keep nails trim (ideal place is under a water bottle or food bowl so their nails are roughened every time they go to eat or drink.
I prefer barred cages with front entrances - more ventilation, you can attach things to bars and a front door is good for interaction with the hamster and taming. Also good for nervous hamsters who don’t like a hand coming from above. If you’re in the US there is an extremely limited choice of barred cages and many aren’t available since the pandemic started - so people often make bin cages or use glass tanks. In the Uk there is a good choice of barred cages (although not as much choice as usual). Pets at Home has the Hamster Sky cage snd the larger Hamster Plaza cage. Their own brand “extra large” wire cage is not a bad size for a dwarf hamster but hardly “large”!
