Question keeping cages near each other

so today i got a new hamster and im just wondering if anyone knows if its okay to house syrian hamsters kind of near each other? they're not right next to each other but some what close (i measured and they're roughly 50 inches apart) and im just paranoid that they may smell each other and get stressed (especially my new hammy) if anyone could tell me what they think i would v much appreciate that

My experience with Syrian Hamsters is rather limited so I can't speak from personal experience but I know of several people who do keep Syrian Hamsters in reasonably close proximity to each other without issues however a lot depends on the hamsters. Sometimes people notice more of an issue of the hamsters are of an opposite gender to each other.

I keep my dwarf hamsters in close proximity to each other as I've not really got another option and I find that certain hamsters get on better when their cages are closer to some hamsters than they are to others suggesting that there may be a personality aspect to it. It may be that if they've always been used to living with other hamsters, they get used to it but without knowing your hamster's personalities, it's difficult to say with any certainty that they won't get stressed.

I have hamsters living next to each other without any issues.
The dwarfs and Robos don't bother about each other, no matter whether they are male or female and both our Syrians are male.
What does cause problems are female foster Syrians because both the male Syrians will react to a female in the house, even if their cages are across the room.
I have to avoid fostering female Syrians because their presence upsets the boys and it takes them a couple of weeks to settle down again after the female has moved out.

What gender are your hamsters?

I have 3 dwarf hamsters next to each other, the female is in the middle, they all tend to not bother unless one of the cages moves, then they appear to be looking for them.

I have two glass tanks right next to each other with a syrian and a dwarf, they are never bothered by each other as far as I have seen.

Hello!
i have two female hamsters and 1 male, the females are 38 inches apart from each other and the male is in another area because i don't want my male to go crazy over the scent, if its 2 females i think your fine for them to me 50 inches apart

have a hamsteriffic day!
