Wiremesh sizes
So, the bin box I plan to rescue a dwarf hamster from an adoption centre as I get back into work within the next 2 months. (will not adopt until then)...
But just realised that the mesh on top may be too big for a dwarf (it is 12mm)... so I'm planning to use that on the detolf as I don't have a perm lid on Remys (my syrians) enclosure so will be cutting the zipties and transferring that mesh over as I know he won't ever fit through it.
However, as stated, do plan to use the bin box for adopting a dwarf in future.
I found 6 panels of 6mm from "the range" ...
Height: 61cm
Width: 91cm
Size: 6 x 6mm Mesh Size
Material: Steel
Would this work if I ziptie them together and add it as "One big sheet" on to the box?

Re: Wiremesh sizes
The mesh that's on your bin cage now is the one i've always used for dwarfs. Never had any issues. Galvanised steel is very strong and they wouldn't be able to chew through it.
I buy a 5 meter roll from B&Q for £11 which works out cheapest i think, depending on how much you need of course. Wilko used to sell mesh panels for £4.
I don't think i'd ziptie 6 panels together because they may sag where they are fixed together but i can't say for sure.

I would use 6mm mesh, then you are covered for any dwarfs, especially robos.

Re: Wiremesh sizes
Thanks guys!
Ended up going with the 6mm one which came in 2.5 metres for £11.10. Will be using this on the bin box and using the wiremesh from the old bin box for the detolf as that's about 12mm since my Syrians will be staying in a detolf and my smaller rescues will be using the bin box as their wheels will be a bit smaller and will fit in better. x
