Default New cage recommendations

My young Syrian is currently living in an Alaska cage that I have had for years but she’s bar chewing like crazy so I don’t think it’s giving her enough space.

She’s got a lot of enrichment and is scatter fed so she’s got things to do but I think she’d like more space.

Has anyone got any recommendations for something slightly bigger than the Alaska?

I’d love a detolf but don’t have the space sadly

you could have a look through this thread I did

UK Hamster Cages 2021

If you watch the short videos it includes all the measurements.

If you are up to building your own from IKEA then the Komplement cage looks really good- links are all in the cage thread.

As she is chewing, it could be a good idea to look out for a 2nd hand tank type cage, where you might have to build a lid.

Thank you LunaTheHamster1 (for some reason I can’t quote you)

I think I’m going to need to buy one of the tank style ones on the list, she’s so incessantly chewing I don’t think a bigger cage with more enrichment is going to stop it. I’ve been looking for a second hand one but can’t find one big enough, I’d love a detolf but sadly don’t have the space.

I might be able to make the komplement cage, if I can get my dad to make a roof!

I’d like to try with 3 glass sides though as she’s very interactive and loves attention!

She doesn’t chew anything else, just the bars!

The komplement is too wide sadly

I’m looking at getting a vivarium with metal runners for the doors and adding extra ventilation, much cheaper than a glass tank and not as heavy to move. I’ve got a few reptiles so am super speedy and building them too!
