Question IKEA Detolf - Support in the middle

So, I finally asked some family to help me just buy a brand new ikea detolf, which arrives in a few days. (£100 in all since I paid £40 extra for delivery due to a small car).

I know the glass in the middle can warp and possibly shatter because there's no support. Would the malm 6 draw be ok to place this on or no?

The detolf is 163cm where as the malm draw is 160cm. Would it be a perfect fit for the two wood pieces to be off the side?

Default Re: IKEA Detolf - Support in the middle

Most people seem to place it on top of the malm furniture and it works just fine. It is only a problem when the glass isn't supported when the wooden parts are on top of each other. When I built my furniture for it, I just slid a piece of wooden plank underneath in the gap (because the detolf was as long as the bench underneath). As long as the glass is laid flat onto a surface, you're golden. And congratulations on getting the cage you desire. (:
