Hamster GLASS Enclosure
Hi guys!
So, I managed to persuade my family into letting me purchase a detolf shelving unit from IKEA for my hamster since it just looks nicer than a bin box and will be a bit bigger in sq inch than the one I have now.
However, I've looked ALL over!
eBay, Facebook Market, Shpock and Gumtree yet can't find anything near me! They are all too far and don't do delivery. (I'm in Essex). All the other ones are from places like Birmingham, Devon, Stoke on Trent etc. and they're way to far. I'm trying to stay within the boundary of Essex.
I want to purchase it second-hand so I can save a bit of money. I almost got my hands on a £22 one but it ended up being delivery only. Are there other second hand websites that I can try? Besides Vinted, I could only get clothes results on there phaha.
If not, are there any other similar glass shelving units that people recommend very similar to the detolf?

Re: Hamster GLASS Enclosure
You could check out second hand aquariums but you would need to make a meshed lid.

I'm not a fan of how short those tanks are, they really frustrate me to place down items, is there anything longish like the detolf shelving unit?

Re: Hamster GLASS Enclosure
I'm currently selling my detolf, but sadly I am not even in the same country.
I came across it for free on a second hand site, they do come and go when people decide to quit their collectibles or a business closes down (like a hair salon). I think you're looking in all the right places, just give it a little more time. (:

What a bummer! I'd snatch it up in an instant if we were in the same country! So hard to find one that's close to me!

Re: Hamster GLASS Enclosure
you could even put a request on freecycle for your area to see if anyone has one

Stupid question and probably sounds quite ridiculous. But would you specify if you're using it as a hamster cage?
I know some people are a bit funny like that and would like it to go to someone who is using it for it's "intended" use, or do you think it would be ok to imply that it will be used as a hamster enclosure? Since a lot of people may not understand and will find it a bit stupid.
