The Trixie plastic wheels are too noisy for a bedroom so the wooden one plastikoted seems to be a practical option for you.

One of our dwarfs lives in our bedroom and has the silent runner. All i can hear are her little paws tapping away which is quite a relaxing sound.

No, i wouldn't take his wheel out either. Couldn't you move him into the lounge or somewhere overnight until the new wheel arrives?

Zooplus usually delivers fairly quickly.

Ear plugs ? . Until the new wheel comes. Our Syrian has the wood trixie wheel. Totally silent. I have also used the 12” silent runner and although expensive they last for years so end up not being so expensive in the long run. But the roof trixie is a good choice. You paint the plastikote on thin. Including painting the cork surface. I find it best to leave it overnight before doing the second coat (also thin). Too thick and it can go tacky and take ages to dry. But tbh if you need the wheel in ASAP then one cost is probably fine. It makes it wipe clean. I actually only paint the inside of the wheel, not the outside.

Try not to take his wheel out because night is when they want to run the most, and it is important for them. You could look on selling sites like Facebook marketplace to see if anyone is selling a wheel very cheap. Even it's not a great wheel or quite big enough, it might tide you over until a new one arrives.
I purchased clear Plastikote so I can keep the natural theme throughout my hamster cage. When I checked my paypal balance I noticed I did have enough for a silent runner wheel but decided to carry on with the wooden trixie wheel because I need the rest of the money for my car insurance for my driving test at the end of the month.

However, I'm still thinking whether I did a good choice or not. I know you guys said the wooden trixie is mostly silent but is it silent enough to be able to sleep with and is it better than the clashing than the wheel I have now?

I seem to be quite silly over this but I want to make sure I'm buying something silent, I would buy a silent runner, but in my current situation I need to be as sparing as I possibly can for now so I have money to carry on purchasing food and bedding for my hamster as well as vet fees if ever needed.

Would you say the wooden trixie is just as good as the silent runner? obviously not going to be better, but do they match up to the same kind of "silence"?

OH! I just made another comment and just saw this, so would you say the wooden trixie wheel amounts up to the silence similar to the silent runner? I just looked at a review on YouTube and didn't like the idea that the grip on the silent runner was hard-ish to clean as well as the little gap it has in the running wheel which makes me a little anxious. No doubt it's a popular choice but something I wouldn't entirely like myself.

I know the wooden trixie wheel wont amount to the standards of the silent spinner. But is it still silent enough to sleep?

I can't comment on the wooden trixie as I have never had one.
I can say that the silent runner is easy to clean so I am not sure what video review you watched.
There isn't really a gap, a little piece of clear plastic slips in and if you put it altogether correctly there is no gap. That's the only part I can think of that you/they refer to re a gap.

I have both the wooden Trixie and the Silent Runner and I would say that the wooden one is only a tiny bit less silent. All you can hear with the wooden one is their feet pattering on the cork and sometimes a swishing as the wheel turns but it's very quiet. Definitely no louder than normal hamster noises like moving through bedding or digging.

This is a clip with sound of one of my gerbils using it:
Rocket & Storm - YouTube

I find it's a lot quieter once plastikoted because their claws don't scrabble against the cork so much and that wheel wasn't plastikoted when I took the clip.

Zooplus have a very generous returns policy. You can return anything for any reason with free return postage up to 14 days after delivery. So if it doesn't work out you won't be out of pocket at least.

The Silent Runner is easy to clean but sometimes you need to take it apart completely as urine can collect in the bit where the running track slots into the front. As it's plastic and metal it's all washable though. If it's put together properly there isn't a gap.

Oh my goodness your clip is a gods sent. I tried finding a clip with a hamster on it but they all mostly had music over if the hamster was on it or they just spoke about it without showing a hamster using it.

It seems so much quieter than the silent wheel, even when it was brand new. The wheel I have made like an echo from the hamsters feet where he tippity tapped on it all night long so this seems perfect! I'm so excited I ended up purchasing in this wooden one. Thank you so much for the clip, massive help!

I like the idea plastic is washable, but I honestly cannot afford a silent runner to save my life at the moment. Maybe if the trixie wooden one doesn't work out I'll return for a refund and invest into the silent runner if need be.
