Default lid needed for detolf?

Hi,

In around 2 months time I will be getting a winter white dwarf after just over a year of not having a hamster- I want to put more bedding in the cage for my hamster so will a lid be necessary?

Thank you,
Izzie

Yes, I would say a lid is essential even for a dwarf. The detolf isn't very high and dwarfs can be surprisingly agile when they want to be.

Definitely, dwarfs are very agile, small, nosy and escape artists. Some more than others, depending on their personality.

A secure lid is always needed regardless of species & cage. Even if you don't have other pets, there are so many ways having a cage that isn't fully secure can end horribly so really it's just the safe and responsible thing to do!
