Default Cleaning soiled bedding with an elusive Syrian

Hi what's the best way to clean soiled bedding from a hamster I rarely see? Today I heard her scratching and when she didn't appear after waving herbs at the entrance to her burrow, I started sorting through her bedding whilst she was in the cage. She kept trying to burrow deeper poor love but. I lifted her out to finish removing the soiled bedding.

Is this approach ok do you think? I hadn't seen her for a week before today.

In the autumn she came out more tho I had less bedding in there then. Is she likely to start showing her face more in the spring?

She will be coming out every night but it is likely her time schedule isn't the same as yours. The season shouldn't make any difference. Can you handle her at all? Does she get free range when you could spot clean then?

Hi yes we can handle her fine. For the first 3 months she was more easily enticed out early eves and morns by waving herbs, banana at the edge of her burrow. Then it was more difficult and it could take up to an hour at a time so now we leave her to her own devices. Any tips?
