Zoozone cages
Hi there
I'm new to the community and will be adopting a Syrian hamster soon and don't worry, I've been researching for over a year hehe. I wanted to ask for opinions on the Zoozone cages, specifically Zoozone 1 in medium. That is the current cage i have ready for my hamster. I believe the common bare minimum is 450 square inches of floor space and mine has about 520. I specifically chose it as it gives great opportunity for deep substrate and has only some bars on the roof (i hate bars!) The other cage i was looking at was about 580 square inches of floor space but due to there being lots of bars, i could only just be able to put about 6 inches of bedding in, so that's why i opted for the Zoozone. So yeah, would just love some opinions
Thank youuuu

Re: Zoozone cages
Most recommend 80 x 50cm as minimum for syrian, I believe the zoozone 1 is 72 x 46cm so a tad under but I have had one before and I know other members do too. You may want to mesh the bars at the top as they are wide and a syrian can push through
Have a browse of the cage review and show your cage section for some ideas

Re: Zoozone cages
You'll need the large Zoozone 2 for a Syrian. The one you have is too small for a large wheel, large house and other enrichments a Syrian needs.
It's okish for a dwarf hamster because their things are smaller.
And welcome to HC!

Hiya!
I've recently realized it is a bit too small yes but I've got plans to upgrade rather quickly. The Syrian i'll be getting will be young so i'm hoping it'll be comfortable and happy enough for a month or so. Thanks for the reply

Hiya!
Thanks for the reply. I've recently realized It's a bit small which is a tad annoying but i have plans to upgrade quite quickly, within the first month or so as the Syrian will be young, so hopefully it will be comfortable and happy enough till then. The biggest wheel i can get for now is 8 inch and for sure will be getting an 11/12 inch when upgrading. I'll do my best to give it as much enrichment as possible for now...I've got sand, safe herbs to scatter, a few hides and tunnels and some chews, as well as enough bedding for it to be quite deep. How does that sound?

To me that sounds ok.
My elderly Syrian male has recently moved into the zoozone 2 (100cm X 50cm), and the 11 inch wheel only just fits. I got the wheel (Trixie plastic wheel) from Amazon.
A robo would be ok in the zoozone 1 but far from ideal. A Syrian however will be a squeeze. They grow very fast so you may not have a month. Keep and eye on the likes of Facebook market place as they crop up on there.

I'll for sure take a look at second hand websites but i was thinking the ikea detolf as it's a great price for so much room. I wish i'd gotten it in the first place but hopefully it'll make up for this initial mistake

Re: Zoozone cages
It can be good to start them in a smaller cage for taming and until they are less jittery. Quite a few people do that. The Zoozone 1 does need the lid meshing- the bar spacing is 2cm for guinea pigs. I haven’t had one but complaints used to be about the lid being a pain to open and close - jerky and noisy. So the standard duna multy was more popular - better lid and no meshing needed. Same size. But if you’ve already got a Zoozone 1 you’ll be used to the lid!
Detolf sounds great for an upgrade later.

Ooh i never thought of it like that. I suppose a smaller space would make them feel a bit safer and less stressed so that’s a good way to look at it. I also heard syrians can be quite fussy and get bored no matter what size enclosure you give them. Maybe an upgrade will prevent that

Re: Zoozone cages
I would recommend the zoozone 2 if you want a zoozone cage as it is 100x50 cm (approx).
