Does all hamster bedding smell?

Hi everyone!
I have had my hamster for 6 mths now, and when i first got her this paper bedding by tiny farm: Supreme Petfoods Tiny Friends Farm Eco Friendly Bedding 15L: Amazon.co.uk: Pet Supplies
However, it smelled terrible as soon as i took it out of the bag.... not in a way that my hamster caused, it was just the bedding itself. It travelled through my whole house literally and it was not nice. I had to find another solution, so after resaearching i decided to shred paper towels/ kitchen roll that is hamster safe. This is cheap and works well, although it is not extremely absorbent, and obviously very time consuming to rip up a whole large roll of kitchen paper every week.
What I am trying to say is, do all beddings smellso bad? I'm from the uk and reallly need a bettter option!!!

I tried this bedding once when I couldn't find the Kaytee bedding I wanted. It does smell terrible but most bedding doesn't smell like that at all. Kaytee Clean and Cozy or Fitch or Small Pet Select paper bedding are all nice, odourless beddings.

I buy the 85l bags of Kaytee clean and cozy which is a good substrate and goes a long way because it expands so much. You can order it from Amazon or Porton Aquatics. I'm lucky that a local, independent petshop sells it for £18.49.

Thank you! This is really helpful- I was worried I would be wasting money if I tried another shop bought bedding!! I think I will go for the kaytee clean and cosy next time

I have used Fitch for years. No smells and nice - hamsters like it too. It’s just recycled food grade paper. It comes in 10kg or 20kg bags so it’s economical too. I get the 10kg bag for £22 including delivery. Lasts about 6 months with a 100 Cm cage. It’s only available online - they deliver within a couple of days usually. Kaytee clean and cosy is similar but compressed. However my last bag was dusty so I don’t know if they have changed it recently. So I stick with Fitch (no dust).
