Affordable Large Cages UK Dec 20
Hi all,
I have just bought a new hammy and was planning to have her in the Alaska I had stored round my Nans, I have found out she has since chucked it and I can’t get another in Zooplus as they no longer sell them.
Can anyone let me know where I can get an affordable large cage from at present?
Hoping not to pay more than £30.00
Having a job finding anything on Amazon or eBay, all just ridiculously small plastic tubey nightmare deathraps for silly money!
I’ve got her in a decent sized one from let’s at home for the time being with some modifications to make use of the space better- but need to upgrade ASAP and keep this one as an emergency cage/cleaning cage.
Best

Is it for a Syrian or other hamster species?

I think you can still get an Alaska from German Zooplus (Zooplus.de). Only till the end of the year though.

I've bought a number of good second hand cages off Gumtree lately. Have you tried there?

Unless you are looking 2nd hand I don't think there is another cage around £30, you could see if petsathome reduce the price of the savic plaza or their other larger (online bought) cages, after xmas day

Hey it’s for a Syrian.
I’ll have a look at the German zooplus and see if the shipping is affordable :/
I haven’t looked on gumtree but will have a browse.
Thanks all

Thanks all so much, German zooplus do sell the Alaska but have cancelled my order because all their deliveries are being turned around- I’m assuming this is because of tier 4 restrictions. So but gutted as one was within my grasp! I’ll have a browse on gumtree so fingers crossed. She is proving quite hard to tame so eager to give her all the room she deserves as I think it may help in that area also.

My syrian lives in a Skyline Barney cage. I like it alot.
I think I got it from Zooplus and it's £50 with free delivery. It's over your budget but I think it's a great cage. It comes with a large shelf, a latter and a house. It also comes with a wheel but it's too small for a syrian so I had to chuck it. Plenty of space for a proper sized wheel though. It measures 100 X 54 X 45 cm
Good luck!

Agree - the Barney and Alaska are the two cheapest decent sized cages for Syrians. I think Amazon sell the Alaska actually. I saw it there once but not sure what it was called (something other than Alaska).

Yes, Amazon does sell the Alaska for around £55.
