Question Petlife safebed shredded paper

Hey, has anyone used petlife safebed shredded paper as bedding? If so, what did you think of it? I seem to be able to get a good deal on zooplus 3x 800g bags for £8.99. Is it worth it or should I stick to carefresh? I'm just trying to find something a bit cheaper.

Any help is appreciated!

Hi RenW,

I've use the wool (not wool made out of paper, but that's what they can it) and the shredded.
I use the wool for their hides (purely because it reminds me of what I used to use as a kid) and the shredded in one section of the cage. I'm not sure how well it would work for the whole cage.
Now that I think about it, I don't remember it being that dusty either, but it might not be as soft as other paper bedding.

You are lucky, I just found a bit I had left, it is harder than kaytee clean and cozy, I don't have any carefresh to compare it too.

You could always try some and mix it with other bedding, reducing your overall costs slightly.

Thank you, I think I might try exactly that. Mixing will make it a lot cheaper and as long as it's safe then I'm willing to give it a go. Can always change back at a later date thank you for your help!

I haven’t tried it but if it’s not as soft as Kaytee then it’s probably more like fitch which would work out cheaper in the long run, fitch is fairly close to keytee just not quite so soft but softer than carefresh as I remember it.

Where do you buy Fitch from? I've bought some Kaytee as it's cheaper than carefresh so thought I'd give it a go. I'd like to potentially try fitch in the future though. I think I'm just going to slowly try everything to see what's best for us 😂

I think I've tried just about everything too!
The link was in my last post. https://www.fitchfirst.co.uk/fitch-p...e/bedding.html that might be easier to see.

I get a little confused with conversions to kg from litres. Does anybody have a rough idea of how much say a 50l bag of carefresh weighs in kg? I wouldnt know what size to buy otherwise 😂
Not the greatest at maths

I'm not sure it's that easy to convert really as different substrates are compressed to a different extent.
If you're starting from scratch you may need a big bag but after that just for topping up after cage cleans you don't need much, I get the 85L bag of kaytee which lasts me ages but isn't huge so 50L of carefresh would probably be fine for top ups.
