Default More then one hamster?

Our dear Rashy died 2,5 weeks ago.
I`m now wondering. Is there any point to have more then one hamster?

Hi,

I feel similar. I lost my precious Willow 2 weeks ago as well and I vow that I will never own another hamster again. I think it is different for everyone. You can own more than one hamster at a time as long as they are separate cages and have all their own accessories, wheels, shelters, etc.

You will know if you feel ready to have another hamster and if you never choose to have another one, that is okay too! Or if you want to own more than one next time that is okay too. It is all a personal choice and everyone is different.

People have hamsters and own many or one for many different reasons. Sometimes it is nice to watch more than one fur baby grow up and watch each one grow and show their personalities differently. Some like to focus their full attention to one hamster at a time and again it is all just a personal choice.

I am so sorry you lost your precious baby, I know how you are feeling and it hurts so so much. May Rashy play and rest in peace at the rainbow bridge.

No, what I mean is that when I had Rashy, I had 3 hamsters, but as he is gone, I have two, but I have the chance to give one of them a new home.
But I`m not sure, and I have the thought is it any point in having two hamsters when they dont can live togheter? I know they need seperat cage etc.

Oh I see! Well it is up to you. If you think you can care for two hamsters right now then why not have two. If you've made an attachment to both of them and you have a bond with them why not keep them. I think the choice is still up to you if you want two or one but also if you can care for both right now.

There really is no specific point in owning 2+ or one. Just ask yourself if you can care for more than one or if you are providing good, equal care to both hamsters. They may never see or interact with each other but you get to interact with both of them and give both of them amazing lives and I think that is kind of the point of owning two or more? You get to see and have a connection with multiple animals at a time which is an amazing feeling as you already know I am sure. But if 2 is too much to handle right now after Rashy's passing that is also understandable.

Are you saying that they are living together now and you don't have a second cage so you are thinking of giving one away? Is that what you are not sure about?

No, they do not live in the same cage.

I'm still trying to understand what exactly you are saying and what your question is.

So, Rashy sadly died and now you have two hamsters living in two cages. One of them you could give to another home.

Are you wondering that if you give one away then you only have one and should this one die as well then you have no hamster?
Is that what you are worried about?

Why would you want to give a hamster away?
