Disc or wheel?
I have almost desided to team up with some other people who works with adoption off animals, but they use disc instead off wheels. But isnt a wheel better then a disc?

Re: Disc or wheel?
Upright wheels are much better than disc/flying saucer style wheels. Those types of wheels do not allow a natural running position in a way that forces hamsters to run with their sides arched. You also can't properly size them like upright wheels - the actual running surface is significantly less than the same size upright wheel, likely only 25% of whatever size is actually stated as the size of this wheel type(and even that doesn't guarantee freedom from side arching)!

Re: Disc or wheel?
My Syrians have large upright wheels because Syrians are too big for disc wheels.
My dwarfs have both, an upright wheel and a disc wheel. The dwarfs use both wheels and one dwarf actually prefers the disc wheel.
My Robo had both but prefers the upright and didn't like the disc so i took it out.
I have been to pet shops where the assistant advised me to get a disc wheel for a Syrian saying they are better for them and there is a lot of incorrect information out there.
I would ask the people who told them to get disc wheels or maybe they use them because they are cheaper to buy.

Re: Disc or wheel?
The running position is much better for them with an upright wheel, saucers or discs take up a lot of room in the cage too & aren't as stable as upright wheels.
