Default Source Aspen wood in the UK?

A long shot, I know but if you don/t ask...

Don't suppose anyone knows where to source Aspen wood in the UK? Ideally with delivery or local to Yorkshire. Not talking about bedding, but actual lumber, timber, planks etc for constructing rodent furniture and accessories

Is there a particular reason you're after aspen? Poplar, oak, pine and spruce are safe options for solid accessories and much easier to find. Aspen is actually closely related to poplar so they're probably equally safe options.

Only because it keeps popping up as "the best" wood for hamsters and gerbils

I think when people say "the best", they're talking about shavings, and they mean out of the woods commonly used for shavings, which are cedar, pine, spruce, aspen. Out of those choices, for shavings, aspen is the best choice. Aspen is fairly soft wood (not softwood) so if it's to be used for solid items with gerbils, it will be devoured very quickly.

Roger that 👍🏻

Thank you, I’ll stick to untreated pine then since it’s widely available, not too expensive and very easy to fashion.
