How big of an entrance do syrians need?
Hi! I'm looking into buying a multi-chamber house for my (hopefully coming soon, the cage is pretty much done being built!) hammy, but there are two sizes. I just want to know how big of an entrance hole a hamster would need to be comfortable since I wouldn't want to get the wrong size and get them stuck!

Without seeing the houses, i'd say the bigger for a Syrian and the smaller for a dwarf.

Yeah- I just looked at the hole size is the same for both sizes, I think just the width and length change. Would 2.5" be enough space? I think it would be but I wanted to double-check.

I would always go with 3 inches to allow for fully stuffed pouches just to be completely safe when it comes to Syrians.

I just measured the entrance of my Syrian's house which is 4in. I'd say that 2.5in is for a dwarf.

Just to confuse you - i measured mine, they are 2.5 inches and I have syrians. They have the trixie labyrinth house, even when their pouches are full they have never been anywhere near getting stuck. Just my opinion from my own experience.
