safe shavings
Hello all,
I am writing to inquire if the larch and chestnut shavings that I have acquired in my wood shop are safe to give to people for their hamsters bedding.
I read a bit online and see that pine is not recommended but often there is mention of treated wood. Larch is in the pine family but a distant relative. The wood is not treated at all.
However, as a gardener I know that using coniferous shavings is too acidic for plants, so I just want to make sure.
Can someone clarify this for me before I offer these shavings up?
Thank you so much,
Jane
