Re: Wooden European Hamster Cages - Wowzer! lol!
Oh....my..... god...... thanks so much for the ebay link there, I am seriously, seriously tempted!!!! I love the cage and know Mo will too...
One thing worrying me though, If I bought this it would be impossible to take it to my mums during the time im on holiday in summer. She would be looking after Mo and its too big to move.. hmmmm

And, Mo has already changed cages once - although about 8 months ago - dont know if I should move her again if she's settled Oh what to do. She has a duna multy but this cage would be a really lovely space for her.

Re: Wooden European Hamster Cages - Wowzer! lol!
I'm limited with Mo cos she is a chronic bar chewer so wanna keep her in a non bar cage - so this would be ideal!
I like the Multy but dont like that is all one level

Yeah - I don't have cages with bars either as hammies are kept in my bedroom and it would drive me mental! What I am worried about though is if a very chewy hamster would chew through the wooden ledges? What do you think?

Re: Wooden European Hamster Cages - Wowzer! lol!
hmmm I dont know about that. I suppose if you gave them plenty of other options to chew it could prevent it (but know the contrary little blighters they'll ignore them and chew the wood!)
They might not be able to get a good grip to bite on them as they are quite high up, so they'd have to bend a bit awkwardly I suppose

Re: Wooden European Hamster Cages - Wowzer! lol!
Shazzy - I am sharing your indecision here!!! The best thing about the cage is the view it gives of your hammie and I love the layout, but I am really worried about the practicalities of cleaning it and how long all the shelves etc will stay in one peice, if my syrian turns out to be a chewer!
I think I remember you saying that you currently have a Duna Multy for Little Mo, would you mind telling me what you think of that cage, and how Mo gets on in it? Any problems or bad things about the cage? As I am also considering this cage for my new hammy too!

Re: Wooden European Hamster Cages - Wowzer! lol!
Thats the worry I have - cleaning it out, and also transporting it elsewhere if needed as I imagine its quite heavy.
Oh yeah I just noticed your question in your first post about the Multy (I was too destracted by the wooden cages!!)
TBH the Multy is a really good cage - its a decent size and has plenty of room for stuff. I have a wodent wheel, a wooden house, a puzzle playground, a dog bowl as a sandbath, a corn tube and a corner potty and it still seems roomy.
The only downside I personally see is there's only one level whereas other cages have 2 or 3 so more room upwards. I have adapted this though by having a flat top wooden house that Mo loves to sit on and eat her dinner and chill out, and you can easily hang things from the top bars - I have a bendy hanging ladder thing that Mo likes to sit on too.
It is also sooooo easy to clean out - no fiddly bits for stuff to get stuck in. Access to the Ham is also good as the top opening is really big.
It's similar to the Gabber Rex that alot of people have for their hammys and they love them. Mo does seem settled and content in it.
Problem is, I'm always thinking I could get her better - I have always wanted one of these European cages and couldnt afford it but now I could and its got me thinking!!
I think your ham would be happy in a Duna - but those wooden cages are so tempting!
