Default Rodipet easy clean terra ceramic house

Does anyone have this?

https://www.rodipet.co.uk/houses/rod...use-16-cm.html

It looks like the perfect house for my 'Polo' my name for her, my DH calls her something else.

Any thoughts on the little house? she's in a bottomless box and has pushed the lid off and although she looks cozy and happy without the lid I've lost a platform/shelf, i think she would struggle to get the top off this.

Not in stock sadly until June 2020, which is quite a long time in hamster years!

I've had a couple of the smaller ones for some years now & my Chineseys really seem to like them a lot. My only concern is that they are heavy & could potentially hurt a ham trying to burrow underneath, I glued some short dowels to the base to make legs & avoid any risk.

I use the Ferplast guinea pig houses and my hamsters love them. The roof is removable but slots in so no hamster here has ever lifted it off. These houses are ideal as a platform too. Available on Amazon and some pet shops. The Ferplast hamster houses are too small for a Syrian.

Yeah, I have that! I think it's great. Although with my last hamster I ended up not using the lid and using a bendy bridge for a roof instead. He liked pushing it up from the inside with his nose. The cage was in my bedroom and good lord it was loud when it crashed!

I place the house on the floor of the cage and put substrate in and around it because I worried about the weight too. I also use a bendy bridge as a wall to stop outside bedding blocking the door. I'd say just make sure they have other burrowing options elsewhere in the cage too.

I have this - it's not cheap but I can guarantee your hamster will build a nest in the front left compartment! And I don't think she'd be able to lift the lid - it's quite large and heavy. It comes with or without the terracotta plate but I like the version with the plate as it doubles up as a food dish, somewhere cool to sit in hot weather, and when lifted off, you can remove the toilet from the middle compartment without taking the whole roof off. That worked well for me until current Syrian, Moo who decided to pee in the right side instead of the middle (all our others have used the litter tray I put in the middle compartment).

It may be bigger than you want though. I also plastikoted mine so it's wipe clean.

I love the idea of the round terracotta houses but it would need to sit on the base of the cage with some substrate inside - so it couldn't be tunnelled under. I am not sure where she would decide to pee though. I like the idea of two of those joined with the pipe. I nearly went with that idea except as a syrian gets older, they need easy level access in and out of the house, which I find they have with the standard houses. I saw out the bottom of the round holes when a hamster gets old and doddery, to make an arch rather than a round hole so it's easier for them to walk through.

The granite top houses are also good and she certainly wouldn't be able to life the granite section (but may be able to lift the other section).

I really love the big labyrinth house though - the rooms are bigger than in all the other houses and they can build big cosy nests.
