New setup
Getting prepped for a new hamster on the 25th, so I got the cage done as the wheel and bedding showed up earlier today
♒︎♒︎♒︎♒︎♒︎♒︎♒︎♒︎♒︎▽⌇⌇▽♒︎♒︎♒︎♒︎♒︎♒︎♒︎♒︎♒︎
Theme:
༆natural-ish
Cage:
༆Barney cage
Bedding depth:
༆varied, from about 5-10 inches
Cage dimensions:
༆internal »-> 97×52
༆external »-> 100×54cm
Area:
༆about 830sq in (I think )
Wheel:
༆28cm diameter (roughly 11 inches )
༆it's the trixie small pet exercise wheel I got from zooplus
༆cost £9
༆fairly quiet however the bottom of the wheel scrapes on the stand, which does make some sound
So what do yall think? Is there stuff I can improve on? Let me know : )

Re: New setup
That sounds and looks amazing. Is it for a Syrian? I like your sand bath on the platform. Is it one of those reptile water dishes?

Re: New setup
Looks good. Have you tried attatching the wheel directly to the cage? See if it is quieter and eliminates it catching.

Thanks! I haven't tried attaching it to the cage directly yet but I'll give it a shot :)

Re: New setup
Looking good I think you'll have one very happy hamster.
Have you got a sieve or tea strainer for the sand? If (s)he decides to pee in it, you'll need to sieve it out or it'll begin to smell.
Have you done the tissue trick. (Putting some tissue with your scent on it in the cage. Something to think about closer to the time). I think cage wise your all set! Any ideas on what you'll be feeding them?

Thank you! I haven't got a sieve but my mum has a tea strainer that I'm sure she won't mind me using as she cever uses it. Definitely gonna do the tissue trick. I'm going to be feeding him Harry hamster, and some vegetables every 3 or so days. What food do you recommend? I live in England so I can't do the mazuri/sunburst diet as I believe they are only available in America :((

Re: New setup
Lookslike your cage will provide lots of stimulation and interest for your new hamster. Very nice!
