Upgrading cage
Hi all!
My Syrian hamster is currently in the Barney cage and has been for around a year, however she chewed through it one time and I think she'll be ready for an upgrade as soon as I move out of my shared house in June! for a while I was thinking that I'd get her in the Detolf, however, I've recently seen so many people saying that for a Syrian hamster its a frustrating cage because of its height and width. I'm not too handy at DIY either and I will be living alone so unless I could pay someone to craft me one, I doubt I'd be able to create a raised lid for it.
I then discovered the living world green eco habitats - the large one looks amazing, would definitely be big enough and has little to no DIY involved (or so I thought).. however, given that my girl is a chewer I think I'd have to cover the ventilation holes on the side of the cage and do something about covering the corners too, but that doesn't seem too hard tbh. HOWEVER, I can't seem to find the large size anywhere? Do they still make them in the UK anywhere? I found one on eBay, which is massively reduced in price and its actually in my area but I just don't have the space to buy it and save it for later, and there's no way I can upgrade until I move out. So in about six months ill be looking but I can't find that large size anywhere brand new! Does anyone know where I will be able to find one?
So, I was wondering are there any other cages that are close to 1000sq inches (like the detolf/livingworld) which are available to buy and not too much DIY? Alternatively, is there anywhere I can buy a living world large habitat new??Thanks!
