We keep ours in the garage actually It doesn't matter if it is cold but it must be dry wherever you store it though.

just wondering how long a bag lasts for your amount of hams?

Cause i seem to be using it up a lot quicker recently, with a bag for two hams only lasting a month or so.

Maybe thats cause peggys in the zoozone 2 now, which uses up a lot of bedding!

Heya, sorry for resurrecting this thread but I thought it would be better than making a new one.

I used Megazorb for the first time today! At first I was drawn to how soft and "bouncy" it feels. Right now, however, while I'm sat in bed I'm more concerned about how dusty it is. I didn't realise Megazorb can be dusty and I should've checked up on that before I bought it. Is it very dusty? Did I just get a dodgy bag or will it be more dust-free as I get towards the middle. I clean the cage thoroughly ever 10-14 days. Will it continue being dusty throughout or will it settle?

Thanks for any answers! I'm off to take some allergy tablets!

Smysha - It is a little dusty yes, and leaves a little bit of dust on the bottom of the cage when you empty it out, but it shouldn't be overly dusty.

Demelza - you can use it for either. Most use it for the entire base of the cage as a substrate, but you could pop some in their house as well as the usual nesting material. I have started doing this as it has very good odour controll and my little madam likes to pee in her house - erlack!

as hope said...megazorb is a bit dusty. it wont change when you get to the middle of the bag either. you definitely didnt get a dodgy bag. i use megazorb for the whole cage and add some toilet paper as nesting material. my hammie can bild their nests however they like then. they have their own minds anyway neither of my hammies has a problem with megazorb...no sneezing or coughing. just try how you and your hammies like it and once the bag is empty you can still swap to something else

I'm more worried about me sneezing! I do get an allergic reaction towards dust anyway and having hayfever at the same time will mean unpleasant nights. It wasn't too bad lastnight - it just means I need to start a 'dust detox' regime! This involves drinking hot water with a pinch of salt, cleaning my eyes and irrigating my nose with a nasal solution twice a day. Hurray! Still - the Megazorb looks comfy so it's probably worth it.

You could try someting called Finacard. Its like little cardboard squares and its supposed to be really good for allergies - someone mentioned it on the forum a while ago, the link to the thread is below.

Finacard
