Default Looking for ideas

I'm surrounded by pet shops and Skye, my little blue car has developed a habit of driving there.

There are soo many hamsters up for adoption. One poor little sod called Gordon has been there since March!!
I really want to give a dwarf a home but he'd need to live in a disused fire place.

The space available is only 35cm deep but i could go up to 90cm wide. I can't extend the fire surround or we would trip over it and we are both naturally clumsy. Would it be visible at all or should i drop the idea? What are your opinions dear people of Hamster Central?

And what are the options should it be an option:

a) an aquarium? checked Amazon, 80cmx35cmx40cm is available with long delivery time and quite expensive

b) a DIY project made from wood and glass or perspex?

c) convert a piece of furniture i.e a trunk?

d) Ikea? no space for a detolf though, any other possibilities?

Hmm. I can get wood, glass, have lots of tiles and all the tools needed plus a very capable, retired man about the hoose.....who wants fish.
