Re: Suitable for a syrian?
The bar spacing on this cage would be far too wide for a Hamster - they would easily squeeze through the gaps! Nice size cage and has the side opening you want, but no good im afraid

Re: Suitable for a syrian?
Depending on how big the gaps are between the bars, this would be a great sized cage for a syrian.. however the gaps do appear to be quite big

Re: Suitable for a syrian?
Im not sure if this would work - and i dont thnik it would be the prettiest of things, but why dont you try putting wire mesh over it - if you want. But im not sure so wait for someone else to post.

Re: Suitable for a syrian?
yh porridge has a cambridge, its a great cage!
Not only are the bars too wide but it doesn't really offer much for a hamster to be honest. No levels or toys, even though they could be added.

Re: Suitable for a syrian?
I feel quite bad for Guinea Pigs and rabbits, alot of people buy a standard cage like that and just basically leave them there, and hardly get them ou t(thats what my friend does i tell her ALL the time, to get him out, give him toys, all he has is a cage like that, and not even a house to sleep in just hay to burrow in and they give him leftovers of the dinner and guinea pig mix) , of course some people love their pets and get them out all the time and get toys for them, but Guinea Pigs and Rabbits dont really get much, like toys, treats, levels, even though they arent athletic animals like hamsters they should atleast be able to explore different levels and fun like the hamsters get!
Btw - My mates Guinea' was given as a suprise, after her hamster died, her dad bought her one, from a pet shop, but it was at the back of the pet shop where nobody could see it, and they werent feeding it so her dad 'rescued' it, the guinea pig - Jack, is so nervous of people, although he's got a little better.

Re: Suitable for a syrian?
i did want a guinea pig or two as they should have company. But i eventually decided to dedicate to my hammies
if i had piggies i wouldn't even use commercial cages, i would make a C&C cage (not sure any of you would have heard of it?)
But basically is a homemade cage out of a tray made of correx plastic and the side cube grids. Way cheaper to make than buying a cage and you can completely change it whenever you want like adding levels etc.
Anyway i leave that to a guinea pig forum!

Re: Suitable for a syrian?
I have seen those types of cage Mel - they are really great - make me feel bad for keeping my old Guinea in a standard hutch (but he came out for cuddles and a run about the room)
