Wheel issues:(
I have a syrian female hamster ive had her for about 6 months now, ive been using the 12 inch silent spinner wheel as i wanted to provide her the best wheel possible as to not harm her spine in any way. Recently ive noticed her struggle to get it moving when she first gets on it. Im unsure if thats normal? Shes never struggled before but the last few days it takes her a bit of trying before she can turn it. I was thinking to downgrade her to a smaller wheel as i think it would be easier for her to turn it but im having a huge huge issue in getting another wheel where im from the pet shops are awful and provide mostly ones with holes throughout which i know are bad. Other than that theyre too small and online most places wont deliver to where i live or if they do they charge sooo much money i can find an 11 inch one in store but would that be a big enough difference? Im really confused about the whole situation. The 11 inch one is also wooden which i can imagine would be a nightmare to clean espeically as my fur baby pees on her wheel ((( any help is appericated thank you.

Re: Wheel issues:(
Have you checked the wheel to make sure it's still spinning freely? Silent spinners are known not to spin as well as other wheels.
An 11" wheel should be big enough but a wooden wheel needs to be painted with a non toxic paint or varnish to keep it clean & I'm not sure if you'd be able to get something like that.

Re: Wheel issues:(
The 12" Silent Runners are known for that - it's a total pain. It's since a manufacturing change. Any wheel would work better! The trixie wheel is fine - if you want a silent 12" wheel that spins freely, and very easy to run in, the "Silent Runner" (not "Spinner) is very popular. Has a safe sturdy stand and mine is still going strong after 2.5 years. But it is expensive. About £25. If you're in the US it's quite a bit cheaper - sold by Exotic Nutrition there.
