Bedding: Gift tissue paper + Shredded paper crinkles
I'm currently looking for cheaper alternatives to bedding.. I was wondering if using gift bag stuffing tissue papers are ok to use? And if not, are crinkled shredded paper that you stuff in gift bags are ok as well? There's no ink as I've checked and they're just paper...

Do you mean do the nest? If the tissue paper had been dyed I’d stay clear as you don’t know what’s been used to dye it. Same goes for crinkle paper if it’s been coloured. Personally I don’t think any kind of paper bedding is soft or warm enough for beds anyway, ripped up tissue (toilet kind) is definitely safe, very cheap and is cozy.
If you mean for general substrate instead, neither would be suitable since paper is not absorbent enough, cannot be dug in and has no odour control.

I definitely wouldn't use it as it's just not suitable.
I wasn't sure if you meant for nesting or substrate either but agree plain white toilet tissue torn into strips is the only thing you need for nests.
You do need to use a proper substrate though, there aren't really any substitutes that work well for hams.
What have you been using? Maybe someone can suggest a good cheaper alternative.

Thanks! I'll definetly stick to what I've been doing then! (Using toilet tissue paper). I'll just spend the the extra bucks for some proper bedding then.. how is care fresh ?

Carefresh is ok although some hams do seem to react badly to it & it is quite expensive.
What country are you in? If you're in the US then Kaytree clean & cosy may be the best & more economical option, in the UK, I find that Fitch is about the best & cheapest.

US! And wow thanks for that, I had it in my amazon cart but i wanted to do more research on what to spend my money on (which would be more healthy and worth it). I'm definetly going for the kaytee bedding!

Hi! Glad you went for the Kaytee Clean and Cozy, its my all time favorite bedding (Ive only tried a few lol)! It holds up borrows very nicely and its not dusty, my more recent bag has been a big more dusty though.

Oh no really What else would you suggest i go for? My hammie tends to be super sensitive than normal to dust... I let her roam around once, and the smallest bit of dust makes her sneeze like crazy and then i feel bad hearing/seeing her sneeze like crazy !

I’m afraid Kaytee Clean and Cozy is the least dusty bedding you’re gonna be able to find. If the batch you get does turn out to be dusty you could try to sift out the dust with a net bag but I’m not sure how well that’s going to work. Maybe you can put a layer of toilet paper on top as well?
