Metal Cages?
Hello everyone!
After browsing amazon(DE/UK) and Zooplus for cages, I've found a few cages that I'd like to know if some of you here have already owned.
So first up I'd like to ask is the Montana Metal Vivario cages? I'm quite fascinated about this cage and it seemed really good. Will this type of cage last permanently? Since it's metal ? Or will it get worned down ?
I also took an interest in the Skyline Agadir/Marrakesh and I'd like to know if the wooden sides are already water-proof or pee-proof and can Hamsters gnaw through it?
Another question would be the Kerry from Skyline. I've just ordered them yesterday and I'd like to know your opinions on the Kerry.

Re: Metal Cages?
Hi. I reviewed the Kerry Terrarium (link below). I'm actually thinking of selling it because it doesn't quite work for me. The Agadir/Marrakesh would be better options - having used the Kerry lid/bars I would say the Marrakesh out of the two. I have never heard of anyone complaining of issues with the wood not being waterproof and I reckon it is almost impossible to chew the wood as no corners.
I had to google the Montana Metal Vivario. Is it expensive? Personally I wouldn't fancy a metal cage but it seems ok as long as any fall risks could be sorted with the little ladders and ramps in it which are a bit high up. It seems to be a good size - I only saw the 120cm by 80cm one.
Have you also seen the Living World Green Eco Habitat? It's deeper than the Marrakesch. The Marrakesch is supposed to look gorgeous. Also have you thought about a detolf? Works out a bit cheaper.
Here's the Kerry review

Re: Metal Cages?
This is quite old but there's a review here for the Montana Metal Vivario cages that might be worth a read. I've never seen one so can't really comment.

Thanks cypher, I can't believe that cage is quite dangerous for rodents.

Thanks, Serendipity. As for the Living World Green Eco Habitat, It looks good but I'm just really worried about half wooden cages as they might get gnawed on. As for the Detolf, I don't really have the room for it.
If you mind, I would like to ask about the Laola Nagarium. It looks really good and a lot of german seems to use it. Is it a good Terrarium?

Re: Metal Cages?
Is the Laola Nagarium. the Rodipet one? It does look nice but there was quite a discussion about it on the German forum when it first came out & no one seemed very impressed, I can't remember exactly what the issues were just remember thinking at the time I read it they were making some good points.
ETA I just had a look at the German forum threads on that one again & the general impression is that ventilation is inadequate & that due to the plug in system, the way it fits together, there may be bits that could be chewed.
I didn't actually read the review on the metal cage so not sure why metal cages are considered unsafe.
I had the Kerry too, found it too be just that bit too small even for a ham that was a bit space shy at the time, it is well made but the door on top is very noisy when you open or close it. Like all glass cages it's worth thinking about the weight & if that might be a problem as they are very heavy.

Re: Metal Cages?
Update!
My Kerry arrived... broken. Fortunately, they let me keep the broken one and its accessories and they'll send a new one.

I hope your cage adventure ends well hellobg. If all goes downhill for some reason I highly recommend the Alaska hamster cage (found on zooplus for £29.99 but the price constantly changes) it's amazing, spacious and cheap: all the important things Alaska Hamster Cage | Free P&P on orders £29+ at zooplus!

Thanks, but I already have the Alaska Hamster Cage o.O
It's really spacious but It's okayish for me as starters, the reason I don't like to use it is, it just doesn't give me the height for putting more bedding.
