Skyline Wooden Platforms?
I was wondering if the Skyline cages
Barney, Alaska, Ted, Speedy Gonzales etc etc has pee-proof wooden platforms or homes.
I have the Kleintierheim Gonzales/Speedy Gonzales Hamster cage and I want to know if the wooden platform already has a type of plastikote.

Re: Skyline Wooden Platforms?
I'm not 100% sure but I don't think they are pee-proof. Hopefully someone with the cages will be able to confirm.

Re: Skyline Wooden Platforms?
Hi,
Ghost lives in an Alaska cage, this comes with a plastic shelf/platform and a plastic dome house which clips into the shelf/platform, so this is pee proof, I took it out as wasn't impressed with it.
I found that if I put Ghosts house next to his sand bath he stopped peeing in his house and uses the sand bath as a toilet area.

Err I don't actually know if that's related to the question or not. I was asking if the Wooden Homes/Platforms/Ramps in Skyline Cages are pee-proof already. This is why I bought Toria the Alaska Cage due to it having a plastic platform than a wooden one.
Now that I have Teo in my Skyline Speedy Gonzales Cage, it came with 2 platforms with 2 ramps which is an extra 2 levels, those platforms and ramps are made out of wood so which makes me worry it might smell horrible because of the wood.

Re: Skyline Wooden Platforms?
No I don't think they are coated with anything. I painted mine with plastikote - although for our previous Syrian I didn't bother and he didn't pee on them - but they can get water mark stains from bottle drips etc. Now I have a granite tile on the shelf under the water bottle so that soaks up any drips I also had some hemp mat on one shelf which probably gave it some protection. It's probably a good idea to protect them somehow as you can't get replacement shelves.
