Crittertrail cages?
>have winter white hamster from petsmart so most likely a hybrid
>currently in a 10gal fish tank with a wheel
I am looking to get a new cage for my hamster so it can have more space and fun. After searching around I found a few used crittertrail cages being sold really cheap so I'm thinking about getting 2 crittertrails for my 1 hamster. I would like to know if they are good for hamsters (some people told me they were not) and if they are hard to clean. Also if anyone has suggestions for toys for my hamster pls tell me.

Re: Crittertrail cages?
Personally, I wouldn't get a crittertrail. They're expensive for what they are and they are too small, even with two.
I presume you're in the US? If so, have a look on eBay or Amazon for cages - some I'd recommend are the Hamster Haven, Alexander, or Barney cage. If you're looking for an inexpensive option, how about a DIY bin cage? Have a look on this forum or YouTube for ideas about that, there are some lovely, easy creative bin cages you could make for very little money.
I don't know if websites like VioVet or Zooplus are a thing where you live, but you could check those out for cage ideas?

Seconding this!
Crittertrail cages are very small even if you join two together and I've heard a lot of horror stories about hammies getting injured in them. Hamsters need a lot of space to burrow and run around so look for a cage that's around 70x40cm for a dwarf hamster or 80x50cm for a Syrian
If you live in America it might be easier to make a bin cage or a detolf since I know it can be hard to find suitable cages there.
Good luck and I hope you find your hammy a nice new cage soon!

Re: Crittertrail cages?
One larger cage is better than two smaller ones joined together, for a number of reasons, including being able to have normal behaviours. Also a cage base needs to be deep enough for a good depth of substrate. As mentioned above, a detolf is an option for a good size tank although needs a lid making. It’s also big enough to be partitioned into two for two dwarf hamsters. A lot of people in the US go for a 40gallon breeder tank which you can get for 40dollars whenPetco have dollar per gallon sales. Cages are hard to find and are expensive. At least $100 dollars. Amazon have the Savic Mickey 2XL which is excellent but expensive. (has narrow bar spacing). There is a good Fop Perspex tank that would be a good upgrade but not to huge. ABBA seed sell it for about$65 dollars. It’s similar to the Duna multy. I’ll see if I. can find a link to it.

Re: Crittertrail cages?
Here it is. It's the top one on this page. Fop Tamburino. If your ham is used to a tank style it may work better than a cage. It's a good option if you don't have space for something big like a detolf, and can't spend too much. It's a good size for a dwarf hammy. I wouldn't go any smaller than that.
HAMSTER CAGES
You'd want to take the hay rack thing out (hamster could get stuck in the gaps) but the house is good.
This is the Savic Mickey 2XL (called Lixit in the US). It's a brilliant cage. 7mm bar spacing, not too big or too small and has a lovely big front opening door that drops down which helps with taming, and interacting with a hamster, plus it means the roof has no door so is available to hang things from. The height is also reasonably low (about 36cm) so less fall risks and the base is a good depth for substrate. The wire shelf it comes with needs taking out as that's bad for their feet. I had this cage for our Syrian and found it just wasn't quite big enough for a large Syrian, but it's perfect for a dwarf hamster. I had a flat roofed house in, instead of a shelf. It's not cheap though, but could be used for any species of hamster. It meets the old RSPCA minimum of 80cm by 50cm and also the US unofficial 450 square inches. Plenty of space to have large tunnels and houses for hiding in, or for a deep digging area. You can also attach a wheel to the bars for stability.

If it was me I'd go with one of those two - tanks are large and heavy and need lids making. The only other cage I know of that is a suitable size is the Marchioro Kevin and that costs even more.

If you don't mind a bit of diy, the Ikea Samla bin (78cm one) could make a bin cage.
