Default 2 ft Fishtank for a syrian?

Would a fishtank measuring 24" long x 12" wide x 15" high be okay for a syrian?

We are at our wits end! She bar chewed a hole in her imac bingo and chewed the bars at the top so we got her a zoo zone 1 and covered the top of the bars with a plastic acetate so she can't get a grip on the bars and now shes chewing holes in the plastic on the side of the cage and by the water bottle!

We have tried blocking it up and covering it but nothing seems to work. We cannot move her into another room as it is not our house so we need to sort something as we are loosing alot of sleep over it.

She used to chew it and didn't chew the cage for months but has suddenly started doing it again So we are thinking a fish tank may be our only option untill we can move out hopefully in a year or so and get her a big barred cage and keep them in another room to where we sleep.

Hiya

I do have a couple of my boys in 2 foot long glass tanks, but these are my lazy boys who dont do anything else except sleep, eat and visit the 'toilet corner' - they dont touch anything in the tank really - it is all left the same as when i put it in the tank and they rarely need cleaning out except for the toilet corners (they still get cleaned out every two weeks though!)

I think this size tank is ok for lazy boys, but i wouldnt like to put any of my mad females in - it would just be too small for them as they like to mess things up, rip things to shreds and run around alot!

From the sounds of it your female is quite active and energetic, so i think a 3 foot tank would be a much better size for her - and yes, it does stop bar chewing glass thanks are great for that!!

Thanks Tammy.
We can't fit a 3ft tank but we are looking for nothing smaller than 30" long. We will hopefully get her one the weekend as she's slowly chewing her way out of her lovely zoo zone and keeping us awake. Then for xmas she can have a new wheel and some toys to jump about on and wreck lol x

We went to P@h last night and got her a 30 x 15 x 12 inch fishtank for £30! Was suprised it was so cheap! Bit smaller than i'd have liked but can't complain really. And now we have no more chewing or escaping
