Opinions on Savic Hamster heaven
Just thinking at the moment but hypothetically how good is the savic hamster heaven for a dwarf?
Is there much room for lots of screams along with the things that come with it?
Do the top platforms allow for many toys?
Is it sturdy? Have you had any escapes?
If anyone has it I'd love to hear your thoughts on it and how it is for you.
I was also looking into the alaska if anyone has info on that.
Thanks for help

Re: Opinions on Savic Hamster heaven
I've got one for one of my Chinese and it suits her perfectly. The bars are narrow enough to contain even a small Chinese and they are of a nice sturdy build and don't bend out of shape or have had the weld come apart as I've noticed on some of the other cages on the market which might make escape easier. The base is a sturdy plastic and allows for a good depth of substrate for a dwarf too. There are some sturdy carrying handles on the top as well to make carrying the cage to another part of the house much easier.
I bought Jessie's Hamster Heaven secondhand off of a friend and consequently it didn't come with all the levels so I can't comment on that but I think that gives you a nice blank canvas to work with when setting it up to your own hamster's needs.
There is a fantastic large front door on it which can make things easier to get in and out of the cage and for those hamsters who don't like to be approached from above, is easier for them too.

Thanks for the help. I'm going out tomorrow to a pet shop that sells it to have a look but I think there's a good chance it'll be coming home with me haha.
I love the look of your set up.

Re: Opinions on Savic Hamster heaven
I also have this cage It is very sturdy - mine has a small dent from when I managed to walk into a wall whilst carrying it but the bars aren't flimsy and don't bend easily. The platforms aren't great but can be used, neither of them really allow for toys to be placed on top as the pink one is sloped and the green is more a track than a platform. Despite this the cage is a nice size and is pretty escape proof. For a dwarf you should have nothing to worry about - the front door is very secure and the top door will probably be out of reach and I haven't had any problems with it with my Syrian. Overall I would recommend it as it is sturdy and although the platforms aren't great they are easily removed and can be replaced with better ones if you want. I have a labyrinth house in mine that doubles up as a platform so that could be a good option as the penthouse is very hard to clean so I don't use it.

Yeah from what I've seen I doubt I'd use the green platform/track part.
Did yours comes with anything to block off the access to the tunnel? I've seen some people saying it did and some saying I'd need to buy something if I didn't want to use the tube. Bit confusing.
Thanks for the reply.

Mine did come with tube caps, the tubes are fairly easy to take off (although if you bought it new they wouldn't be attached as you have to put them together yourself). I would assume you would always get the caps included if you were to buy the cage new.

Re: Opinions on Savic Hamster heaven
The Ikea Knuff magazine holders make great levels if you did decide to replace the ones that come with the cage. At the moment Jessie has a freestanding one but we're making a fixed one for her cage using this tutorial: Doing some stuff with a Knuff

I've actually been thinking of trying something with those for one of my hamsters. Seen so many cool ideas being done around the internet.

Re: Opinions on Savic Hamster heaven
It has a lovely big front opening door and it's a good height for a dwarf hamster as it's a fairly low cage at about 36cm tall inside. I think it would work best starting with an empty cage, as Fluffagrams did. The plastic shelves and bits and pieces (eg the little houses on them) just make it difficult to fit in proper houses and wheels, plus they're maybe not suitable for a dwarf. Most people end up removing all the plastic contents, tubes and penthouse. Although you could use a couple of the tubes as floor toys inside the cage.

Re: Opinions on Savic Hamster heaven
I have the HH for one of mine too, like Fluffagrams I don't use any of the bits that come with it & block off the hole for the tube with the piece provided.
It isn't that high so once you've filled the base with substrate you really don't need shelves but you could add some bold on small shelves or ledges to make better use of the space if you wanted to.
It is a good strong cage & quite a nice size for most dwarf hams.
A bit less spacious than the Alaska which I have also used but the Alaska is quite tall so difficult to set up safely for a Russian ham.
