Default Wheel Size

Hi Folks,

So I upgraded from a 6.5" kaytee silent spinner wheel to the 12" yesterday as my Syrian is getting bigger and I was seeing her back start to arch a bit on the smaller one.

I attached it to the cage and when I looked an hour later I found her wedged between the spinner and the cage bars (she's in a Marchioro Goran Cage). So I freaked out she could get stuck there and die and took the bigger wheel out.

Just checking if others have hams that do this and it's safe? Or how you prevent them from doing that? Maybe this isn't the best wheel choice?

I'm really wanting to attach it to the cage if I can since it's sucha huge wheel - that way it takes up as little cage space as possible...

Thoughts?
