I put ice lolly sticks on Gopal's ramp so that it has a bit of grip.

Ohh that's a good idea flowerfairy, thanks. Can you buy ice lolly sticks? Not sure I'd like to be using used ones!

Also trying to decide on what glue to use. Amity suggested Elmers, and a number of people have recommended Ponal on this thread Non toxic wood glue

Which would be better? In terms of both safety and strength?

I'm not too sure about Ponal, but I know that Elmer's glue is 100% safe and do not use any sort of animal parts to make their glue(which is unlikely to be found especially as such a public statement with many other brands, but do have a look and see if you can find any others that do).

Thanks Amity. Will glue stick to the plastikote? Or, should I glue the wood first and then paint the plastikote on after?

I don't think it would be a problem gluing after, but it certainly doesn't hurt to avoid the risk and plastikote after.

You can buy lolly sticks lots of places, amazon & craft shops sell them, sometimes they're called tongue depressors but it's the same thing!
Glue first & paint after. If you paint first the glue might just pull off the layer of paint & come apart.
Not sure about elmers glue tbh, I thought that was a US product but could easily be totally wrong there!

Thanks Amity and Cypher. Will need to get some lolly sticks and decide on what glue. Both sound good, though! Good to know that I should glue first.

Would glue be strong enough to attach the ramps to the platforms, or would I be better off using an attachment such as the hook screw thing that Hamsterita posted a picture of?

I would either use the hook to fix them or you may not need to fix them if the base is slightly buried in the substrate, if you glue them you won't be able to move them if you want to at some point, it's not always easy to know the best place to put them until they've been in the cage for a while.

Thanks Cypher. I did think that may be a problem with the glue. Think I will have a look into those hooks. You wouldn't happen to know what they are called, would you? Or the name of a suitable alternative?
