Is my room good for my hamster ?
I'm getting a new hamster and I want to have it in my room because I don't mind the noise and because it's que quietest room in the house , there's barely any noise and barely any people going in ( just me but I don't spend much time there anyways) . the problem is , I have a fish tank and the filter makes some noise, it's not really a loud noise, it's just a water noise ( like a faint waterfall) but sometimes the filter malfunctions and there's a bit of a vibrating noise from the plastic of the filter touching the lid and sometimes that noise is faint but other times it gets quite strong, it's easy to adjust( when I notice the sound , I go and fix it ) , and I'm not sure if the hamster would be bothered and stresses out by it .
So really the question is ( sorry about the long intro) : Will the noise of my fish tank( the filter) upset my hamster ?

I don't think so. Hamsters usually adapt quite well to frequent noises that are part of one's daily routine, like vacuuming, blow-drying hair, etc. The only time they seem to be particularly frightened is with loud thunder and fireworks, but eventually get used to it after their first experience.

That wouldn't be any problem at all, as JLPrairie said they do adapt quickly to most general household noises & a steady background noise like an aquarium wouldn't bother them.

Re: Is my room good for my hamster ?
I'm sure your ham would be fine with the filter noise I sleep with a fan noise to drown out any inconsistent noises at night and my hams aren't bothered by it and it's definitely louder than a fish filter. Usually it's louder noises such as fireworks and thunderstorms that stress hamsters out as JLPrarie mentioned above.
Also on a side note hamsters can make a lot of ruckus at night, so if you are a light sleeper or are easily kept up with noises in the night it may be best to keep your hamster cage somewhere else, though that isn't always an option. Personally I am very easily kept up with noises in the night, but as I mentioned above I use a fan to drown them out.
