Default Sand bath

I've been wanting to give Snow Ball a sand bath to play in. Would reptile sand be safe to use?

Reptile sand is not safe,as has been mentioned quite a few times on the forum. The only options are sterilized sifted children's play sand and high quality chinchilla sand, nothing else, not even aquarium sand(I've heard of it being used but it is too questionable to take a chance).

Chinchilla sand is definitely the safest to use, no idea where you are but in the UK the Tiny friends farm bath sand (formerly supreme science) is the best.

Reptile sand isn't safe but if you really want to give your hamster a sand bath and you can't find children's play sand or chinchilla bath sand (dust/power causes respiratory issues) then sift it twice, wash it with hot water, drain it, bake it, and repeat twice. Once again, not ideal but if you REALLY want to...

Reptile sand is just unsafe. It isn't even okay to use in as situation with no other choice of sand. It's been said on another thread in terms of why,but there is no reason to use reptile sand.Even if there is no other choice,it's a lot better to have no sand at all than to have something so dangerous be used.
