Evening. Do you have a bath in the cage or do you keep it for once a week outside the cage fun?

Re: Sand bath
I have a sand bath in my cage permanently for my hamster to roll and dig in, and she loves it. Should probably get one for my other hamster too. You could suit with them in it as well, but I'd recommend keeping it in the cage for them to play as they please.

Re: Sand bath
I always keep it in the cage so that my hams can go in it whenever they want. Sand baths in the cage permanently won't cause any issues generally and shouldn't be removed unless your hamster develops skin issues and other such. They're not like chinchillas who would need their dust (sand in the case of hamsters) removed so they don't get dry cracked feet, so go crazy with the sand!

Re: Sand bath
I would keep a sand bath in the cage 24/7 as hamsters are very clean animals and love their sand baths. My hamster loves digging around in his sand bath.
Make sure you buy SAND and NOT DUST as this will create respiratory problems for your hamster.

Re: Sand bath
When I get a sand bath I will keep mine's permanently since my hamser can't stand being dirty. LOL.

My hamster LOVES his sandbath. He practically can't live without it lol it's in the corner of his cage and it keeps him clean, keeps down his claws etc. We get him chinchilla sand so it is small animal friendly
I keep my hamsters sand bath in the cage 24/7. He acts like he can't live without it. It keeps him clean, keeps his claws down etc. His is in the corner of his cage. It's easy to clean and a safe way of him staying clean. He tends to keep his sand bath clean so it doesn't need changing too often. My friend had a bit of a problem as her hamsters sandbath didn't have a lid/roof so the sand flew everywhere and she had to keep brushing it up. Personally though, I think you should leave the sand in there all the time because it's a great way to keep your hammy occupied. You can also buy https://www.amazon.co.uk/Trixie-Larg...+digging+towerhamster digging towers that you can hide food in etc but I wouldn't leave those in all the time, I've got one but only put it in occasionally as he had his sandbath in all the time

Re: Sand bath
Pip adores her sandbath, I have found that the deeper the better as Pip would dig so vigoursly so will send showers of sand everywhere, so I put an extra deep one in for her which solved all problems.

Re: Sand bath
Ptolemy adores his sand bath, and I leave it in 24/7. He uses one corner of it to wee in, and the rest is for rolling, digging, and picnicking. Yes he pouches food just to go sit in the sand to eat!
