Fitch - how long would 10kg last?

Hi all,
Can any of you give me an estimate of how long 10kg of Fitch would last in a Ferplast Duna Multy?

The base is about the same size as my Barney cage - I used to find about a third to half of a bag filled the base from scratch. But after that I only did a substrate clean about every 3 months and just spot cleaned, and even then I only replaced the top third of the substrate (you take the top third out, put the remainder in a bag while wiping out the cage, put the remainder back, add a new third and mix it all in together so it still smells familiar). So my 10 kg bag used to last 4 to 6 months with a new set up and with an ongoing set up, at least 6 months.

I use fitch as well and buy it straight from their own website. They deliver in about 2 days. I have the storage space and bought the 20 kg bag as it is better value.

I also get it direct from the suppliers. The price includes postage. Amazon sell it as well but it costs slightly more and still comes direct from the suppliers!

As Coco says, the 20kg bale works out a lot cheaper as it only costs £4 more but it's absolutely enormous lol. And it does need storing indoors really or it gets damp.

that would be a great idea. I might be able to store it but I would need to know the rough dimensions of the 20kg to see if I could fit it in the spare room without causing too much hassle. I can't seem to find it on the Web page. looks like I will have to contact them directly.

I can roughly measure my 20kg bag tomorrow if you want? We use it for my guinea pigs as I'm not allowed fleece so it's the cheapest thing I can get in bulk.

Well my 10kg bag is roughly the size of a child's beanbag chair (not the really big ones). So I guess the 20kg size would be like two of those on top of each other If you have a spare room it sounds ideal - it might not look very glamorous but I used to put a throw over ours (so it looked like a beanbag chair ). And once you've used it to fill a cage base the first time it goes down in size a bit anyway.

I can't remember the exact size but I have had a 20kg bag & it wasn't hard to store really, it's so economical as most of what we pay for any size is the delivery charge & if starting from scratch you will use a substantial amount to fill the base of the cage then the remainder will last ages for top ups but shouldn't be too big to store once you've used the initial amount.
