Also ... is it a good idea to have a house with a flat roof to use as a sort of platform?

Or .... should I get a platform of some sort?

This is for a Syrian baby.

I have a couple of those for my Chinese hams & they do love them but it's not suitable as a house for nesting in if that's what you mean, a great toy but for a house you need something with no base, bigger than a coconut for a syrian & a flat top is always useful to use as an extra little platform or level.

Ah you echoed my thoughts on all points.
Maybe I can find some kind of mid level platform and then use a bendy bridge at one side for a touch of privacy?

Could do, I'm not the best person to recommend houses for syrians as I only keep dwarf hams & have an expensive habit of buying most of my houses from Rodipet in Germany!
